AIM Launches Report on Corporate Governance Practices of Top 100 Philippine Companies
On July 14, 2010, the Hills Program on Governance launched its report entitled Corporate Governance Trends in the 100 Largest Publicly Listed Companies in the Philippines.
The study was undertaken for the second consecutive year by the Hills Program on Governance of the Ramon V. del Rosario, Sr.-C.V. Starr Center for Corporate Governance at AIM, picking up from last year's study which covered 2002 to 2007. The report was launched at a forum held New World Hotel in Makati, with John “Sunny” Sevilla, Undersecretary of the Department of Finance for Privatization, and Mike Lubrano, Managing Director of Corporate Governance of Cartica Capital LLC, a fund manager based in Washington, D.C. and member of the Global Corporate Governance Forum, Private Sector Advisory Group, as the keynote speakers.
The report included the results of an online survey of directors and officers of the top 100 companies to determine their perceptions regarding the ethical and corporate governance culture in their respective companies. The online survey was conducted by the Social Weather Stations.
The study was sponsored by the Jollibee Foundation, Villaraza Cruz Angangco & Marcelo Law and The Asia Foundation. The Global Corporate Governance Forum sponsored the travel of Mr. Lubrano to Manila from Washington, D.C., to speak at the publication launch.
