On July 07, 2011, the Hills Program launched its report entitled 2009 Corporate Governance Trends in the 100 Largest Publicly Listed Companies in the Philippines at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Makati.
The study reviewed the corporate governance practices of the 100 largest publicly listed companies in the Philippines, by revenue, in 2009, as disclosed in their annual reports. The study also included an online survey of independent directors of the Top 100 Companies to determine their perceptions regarding the ethical and corporate governance culture in their respective companies. The online survey was conducted by the Social Weather Stations.
Angela Garcia, Executive Director of the Hills Program, presented the findings of the study and Jay Sandoval, Deputy Manager of SWS, presented the results of the online survey. The keynote speaker was Chairperson Teresita J. Herbosa of the Securities and Exchange Commission, followed by an interview of Chairperson Herbosa by Mr. Coco Alcuaz of the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) and an open forum.
The study was sponsored by the Jollibee Foundation and the Villaraza Cruz Angangco & Marcelo Law.
